Suncadia Appoints Scott Spann as General Manager & Richard Brooks as Director of Sales & Marketing, Hospitality

Roslyn, Wash. June 11, 2013 Suncadia, a year-round mountain resort community located 80 miles east of Seattle, is excited to announce the appointment of Scott Spann as general manager of resort operations and Richard Brooks as the hospitality director of sales and marketing.

“We‟re very excited to have Scott and Richard on board at Suncadia,” said Roger Beck, managing director of Suncadia. “They both have extensive expertise in the hospitality industry, each working in variety of resorts across the country. I know their experience will benefit Suncadia, and I‟m eager to see how their distinct backgrounds will contribute to the resort.”

As general manager of resort operations, Spann will oversee all aspects of the resort including food and beverage, golf and rental management, as well as overseeing the overall Suncadia sales and management team. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry to his new role, including his most recent position as general manager at Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Wash. In addition, Spann served as general manager of The Chattanoogan Hotel in Chattanooga, Tenn., and as general manager at Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch, N.J. He also founded and served as president of Tiburon Hospitality Management Company in Carefree, Ariz.

In his new role at Suncadia, Brooks will be responsible for strategic planning, business plan implementation, marketing expertise and leadership for the resort. With more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Brooks has served as director of sales and marketing at various resorts from coast to coast. Most recently, Brooks was the director of sales and marketing at Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson, Ariz., where he notably led the sales, catering and conference services team to achieve a no. 1 rating in Meeting Planner Satisfaction for all North American Westin properties in 2010 and 2012. In addition, Brooks served as the director of sales and marketing at Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa in Bedford, Penn., The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, N.C., and sales director at Walt Disney World Resorts in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Brooks earned his bachelor‟s degree in marketing from Elon University in Elon, N.C.
